2009 Business for Peace Honouree
The former CEO who placed sustainability at the heart of IKEA
Anders Dahlvig believes that if individuals are given a chance they will either sink or swim and that bosses should have faith in their employees. Mr Dahlvig joined IKEA straight from his Master’s studies and progressed from Controller to CEO and President, a position he held from 1999 to 2009. Under his leadership the furniture giant grew significantly and became a market leader in terms of environmental and ethical policies.
After leaving IKEA in 2009, Mr Dahlvig is now on the board of several companies and works with universities and charities. He has received a number of accolades including the Oslo Business for Peace Award, which he received in 2009. He has a BSc in Business Administration from Lund University and an MA in Economics from University of California, Santa Barbara.
